Dear All,
Thanks for your valuable comments. In the meantime, one request to provide the annexure as mentioned, with citing the reasons, has been sent to MCI. I am attaching herewith the copy of letter sent to MCI for your kind perusal. I request all of you to press for the same, which will give the opportunity to express views by all specialties, as well as the time, so that RTI can be used in an effective manner; buying time is of essence, only by which this document will come to the knowledge of everyone. Still maximum number of faculties of concerned subjects are unaware about this document and that seems to be the hidden agenda of MCI.
Please circulate it to all concerned faculties, surgery, gynae, patho, micro, etc., as they are also equally uncomfortable with this document; only we have to make them aware.
The letter, sent to MCI, is available in the later part of this article.

I will have to agree 'in principle' regarding the comments expressed by all of you; the vision 2015 seems to be biased, inconvenient, illogical and unwarranted; i add to your views that such proposals are fit to be disposed off into the archives, without implementation.

Vision 2015 of MCI seems to bring unrealistic vision. The proposed UG curriculaum and the degrading of Forensic Medicine as a subject is unwarrented and is not compatible with our system.

The knowledge of the criminal justice system and its workings is an absolute necessity in the curriculum

We are sending a draft of suggestions to the MCI.

Dr Adarsh Kumar, Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, Dr. Badkur, etc., can use the Venkatachaliah Report as the recommended document on highlighting the importance of forensic medicine & toxicology to the MCI BOG.

Most important inputs to develop a vision & fix targets are facts and correct information. It is unfortunate that vision 2015 is flawed at the basic stage itself because

Dear fellow members representing IAFM, SIMLA & KAMLS at the MCI regarding the proposed document “Vision 2015”

The idea of pushing FMT to stonage has originated from .....................

........We have to act very fast and put everything into action in a methodical manner..........While commenting try to be precise and penetrative.............. subject in 2nd or in final year? .........also please comment upon the weightage to be given to toxicology.............distribution of teaching hours need be clarified considering other disciplines ................

Letter has been sent to the Chairperson and all members of the MCI BOG on behalf of the Indian Society of Toxicology..............

I request the BOG-MCI to conduct survey before taking decision...

I request the Forensic medicine & toxicology associations to add to my views and send a draft to MCI on or before 15-01-2011 lest we may have to fight again against their irrational, impractical decision likely to arrive in 2011. The need of hour is swift, stubborn and robust resistance.

.......One can hardly do justice (both students as well as teachers) with the reduced frame of time. There is no representation from 2nd year subject experts in the working group. The subjects of Pathology, pharmacology, forensic medicine and microbiology, do serve as strong base for the better comprehension of clinical subjects and hence assigning 1 and a half year to these subjects shall not be considered as a wastage of time......
The medical faculty also reserves its right to know the basis for grouping the medical subjects as A, B and C.

It is not clear whether they want to keep Forensic faculty in UG teaching? If forensic subject is taught by other specialties like OBG, Surgery, etc., what is work for Forensic Specialist? Where is the question of employing a Forensic Specialist in Medical Colleges (especially private medical colleges)? Are they meant for only conducting medicolegal autopsies? If so, how many private medical colleges are conducting medicolegal autopsies?
