Sub: To provide Annexure-II; as mentioned at page no.15 under Heading Need to review Curriculum  along with other annexure

Ref: VISION -2015 Document having proposed UG Medical Education placed on MCI website on/after 28 Dec.2010 with inviting suggestions /comments before 17 Jan.2011

Dear Sir,

With reference to above, it is to submit that the contents of said enclosures have not been displayed on MCI Website. To understand fully before giving any suggestions all the annexure also need be disclosed fully for perusal of whole medical fraternity; since the said document is pointing towards a drastic change in undergraduate medical education in India.  At the first stance this document is looking extremely detrimental to subject of forensic medicine and also medical undergraduate learning. Therefore, I request you to immediately supply a copy of the same to me through drabrahamjobby@gmail.com itself. Also the said annexure need be placed on website of MCI with proper linkage etc. so that all the stakeholders are not deprived of this important information as well don’t have any ill-conceived notion against it.

It is further requested that in view of the above (the strong possibility of purposely not disclosing it with some hidden agenda exists in this case); the last date of inviting the suggestions also need be extended upto 17 Feb.2011. Also this document need be sent to media for a wide coverage so that every concerned can understand it and in a position to give their suggestions.

If shortage of staff is the only criteria, though I don’t believe there is that great shortage in Forensic Medicine, then I feel we should do away with all pre and para clinical faculty because shortage exists in most of them also and if needed they can be managed by Clinical Faculty themselves or we can get the Science people into teaching or use school teachers to teach them. Even these people can teach all these subjects with proper reading, though effectiveness will be a question. Are we looking at this?

As is evident, if the MBBS course is to be shortened and rendered equal to the Bachelor of Rural Medicine and Surgery, then it would be better that the said course be permitted in addition to rather than tampering greatly with the time tested MBBS Course. I do though agree with the need of re orienting MBBS Course with a more practical approach. MBBS doctors from India especially those from the Government Medical Colleges are recognized to be good and knowledgeable doctors and are sought after in many places. So there is no need for a major overhauling of the course, only minor tinkering for better practical learning.

I shall be highly thankful to you for an immediate action and reply.

Thanking You
