Dr.Adarsh's clarifications to Dr.Pillay; SC Mestri's letter to Dr.Pillay; Dr.Pillay's reply to Dr.Adarsh; Dr.Adarsh's letter dated 12th march 2011

15th March 2011.
Respected Prof VV Pillay
I think there is some misunderstanding.First of all I would like to clarify that there is no question of individual glorification by anyone. It applies to all 5 forensic fraternity who reprsented at MCI. I have simply apprised every concerned forensic fraternity that this is present scenario since I am getting hundreds of query that what is going on ? what action is being taken etc etc. As a general secretary I have put everything in black and white and for knowledge of everyone. There is no question of taking the credit or sharing the blame by anyone. We all have to unitedly fight for the subject which we are doing. It is assumed that whatever has been communicated earlier was based upon the discussions and inputs from all 5 members who represented at MCI.
Similarly once it is clear that UG working group has agreed to whatever discussed earlier with all of you can not backtrack from their versions. It is not a mockery that 4-5 senior faculty from all disciplines  are coming from whole country, sitting for  many days, brainstroming on finetuning the curriculum on the criterian fixed in very first meeting. Everybody is answerable to someone and thats why tranparency is needed in all affairs.

Lastly I reiterate that there is no question of loosing or winning a battle. Even after these efforts if MCI does not heed to our demands; option of legal course is open to us. Thats why all the committess have been alreday formed with deadline as 31st mar has already been given to complete the work assigned. It is the moral duty of everyone to work actively for the subject especially in these turbulent times.

Long live Forensic Medicine ! Long live IAFM

With sincere regards

Dear Dr.Pillay,
I do agree with you. One should forget the robust resistace & sustained efforts of various organisations and even individuals. After all it was of grave concern to all young & old who survive on the very existance of subject and its growth.
Now many of us r in doubt whether the team attending meetings and other organisations including IAFM are in touch with each other or not. Hope they are collectively putting effort to save the subject lest u r sowing doubt in the minds of monster MCI which may adopt divide & rule policy to break our unity. At any cost this should not be allowed. Please no one should be fighting for projection of our own views and ideas about curiculum. It should be comprehensive and acceptable to many if not all. One should know that there is always scope for changes in future if some of the ideas are not practicle. My appeal to all at helm of affairs to unite to effectively project the subject keeping in mind only the image of subject and that of thousands who earn livlihood out of it.
With best wishes

DR.SHASHIDHAR.C.MESTRI

Dear Dr Adarsh,

I have two objections to your mail:
1. The battle is not yet over. While we have made some strong recommendations, the MCI has not so far agreed in writing. So please do not raise hopes of our fraternal colleagues prematurely. This is like counting one's chickens before they are hatched.
2. The credit for fighting this battle (and hopefully of winning it) does not go to any one organization or individual. It is a collective effort, and if we win, it will be a collective victory (if we lose, will the IAFM share responsibility as eagerly as it would like to if we succeed?!). We must desist from such claims of individual glory, especially as a responsible representative of a national body. I am afraid I find it quite unacceptable. While we all appreciate your efforts (and that of IAFM in general), this is a battle being waged by all those who have raised their voice, or done their own bit in their own way.
Regards,
V V Pillay

Dear All
The last month has witnessed so many things pertaining to subject as well as
IAFM. firstly we observe black Day by putting black ribbons on 5th Feb which was
highly successful and cretaed extreme pressure on MCI to consider our genuine
demands. subsequently various commitees were formed viz.Academic, National

Coordination, State Coordination as well as Brainstroming and Legal comprising
of forensic fretarnity from whole contry. Ultimatley a meeting was held on 18-19
Feb at MCi to revise and update MBBS curriculum which is need of hour. MCI
agreed to increase teaching hours to 150, marks to 300 and most importanly the
teaching from 3-6 sem and exams at end of Final Prof Part-1 as well as
compoulsory internship training under FMT thus shifting the subject from
paraclinical level to sub-clinical level as submitted by IAFM memo dt 15 Jan and

7th Feb.( All these informations in detail are available at blogspot cretaed for
Vision-2015 i.e. www.forensicmedicine123.blogspot ).

Afterwards one more meeting with MCI was held on 6-7 Mar which finetuned the
curriculum with vertical and horizontal integration so as to avoid the
duplication as well commensurating with present scenario.  We are quite hopeful
that it will be a new begining for the subject and there will be no need to take
legal recourse .However the basic groundwork has already been done and if needed
it will also be taken but not unnecessarily dragging. As such the final
curriculum will also be made available by end of this month for further inputs
as communicated by MCI.

Well now please find attached herewith the minutes of General Body Meeting of
IAFM held at Nellore for information of all .One can very well see that IAFM is
marching ahead in a very methodical manner for overall strengthening of forensic
fraternity.
