Subject: Suggestions about forensic medicine & toxicology.

Respected Sir,

Myself Dr. Shailesh H. Jhaveri is working as Associate professor in the department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research, Surat , Gujarat since 2011.

As per the said document on the web site of MCI about my subject, I want to emphasize points which allow you think once before reaching on any decision for recommendations.
1.      It is a painful fact that the Forensic Medicine has been remaining neglected subject by medical faculties. Even though it is being taught by subject experts, medical officers at health centers still commit gross blunders which may lead to miscarriage of justice.
2.      How can legal experts can teach medico legal issues? We have come across the fact during medico legal work that legal experts need to consult Forensic Medicine experts frequently rather than vice versa.
3.      Until and unless the subject is taught as an individual subject during under graduation, how the student will develop interest and opt for the same in Post Graduation.
4.      It is acceptable to learn certain topics by concerned departments during Post Graduation study but not during Under Graduation. It is advisable to build the base of the subject since Under Graduation by Forensic Medicine subject Experts rather than Faculties of other clinical departments.

I hope you will understand the importance of the subject with this small introduction and prepare the recommendations accordingly.

Any suggestion, if require any time, I will be very happy to do the same.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,
