Excerpts from a letter by young faculty of FM

I request the BOG-MCI to conduct survey before taking decision...
With all my due respect to BOG/MCI members I will give my comments………. I request the BOG/MCI to conduct survey, public opinion poll and research work, before taking decision and giving notifications. When I see all these notifications, I feel again, the MCI has gone in the hands of few power hungry (BOG) people, who sit in AC rooms and pass some unscientific rules just to extend there tenure in that post. Please don't take drastic steps at once; whole medical education system in India gets beating ………. Like TUGLAQ Darbar………………… changes must happen over period of time, and not at once.
Please excuse

  1. Dear All,

At first "Happy new Year to all" . . Hope new year will bring good fortune to all and for forensic medicine..

I was hoping for some announcements on recent developments on forensic medicine like increase i the teaching hours and retaining the staff requirements on the MCI website ..

    but instead i found .. . "VISION 2015" .. .
on one hand MCI proposes shortage of forensic specialist and other hand it washes forensic
medicine as stating that the forensic course need not be a separate subject but can be taught "effectively" with other subjects.

The organization who's main objective is to monitor standard of medical eductaion is turning a blind eye towards one of very important subject ...... is it beacuse there is no forensic faculty in the panel who made this so called VISION 2015?

how can someone talk about neglecting ( soon it will be removing) a subject from undergraduate curriculum?

is it because , the so called CMC VELLURE does not even have a working forensic medicine department? Dr.GEORGE MATHEW are u listening ?

    Kindly refer page 15 . .. is a shocker .......which states . .

"Forensic Medicine can be effectively taught during Gynecology & Obstetrics (rape, assault), surgery (injuries), pharmacology (toxicology). Legal experts can be called for medico-legal issues. Forensic medicine skills can be acquired during internship such as documentation of medico-legal cases of alcoholism, suicide/homicide, rape, assault and injury cases."

then every subject in medical curriculum can be taught similarly ....... why only forensic medicine .?

all most every alternate day there are newer developments . .. where is the medical eduction in India heading to ...........? ?

KINDLY NEED YOUR OPINIONS AND FEEDBACK'S ON "VISION 2015"

    Cheers . ..

    Happy new year 2011 ...
