I came to know of the report submitted by a committe for the rearrangement of medical
curriculum, to the IMC. Unfortunately there is not a single person from the speciality of FORENSIC MEDICINE in that committee.
How can a nonforensic person understsnd the relevance of forensic medicine especially related to criminal and civil law?

In that report FORENSIC MEDICINE is sidelined and relegated. It is said in the report that gynaecologists and surgeons will teach the forensic medicine.Does it mean that the gynaecologists and surgeons will do the autopsy?
The legal people are finding it very difficult to understand the medical issues in legal matters like homicide etc.
Then how are they going to teach medicolegal issues? That will be the most doomed days for the judiciary.
without doing autopsy how the surgeons etc are going to understand the science of injuries?
In the future, a day will come when there are NO FORENSIC SPECIALIST , because nobody will join for a PG.Then who will do the postmortem examination and go to the court?
Without doing postmortem examination, how the surgeons etc are going to learn the science of thanatology? Then how
can they teach it.
These are some of my doubts.
Besides these, there are some other grave problems like that of job. Many people are there working in private colleges who have passed the agelimit for a govt job and they will be jobless for life!
Thus the sugestion by the committe to sideline and relegate forensic medicine is a SUICIDAL AND AT THE SAME TIME A HOMICIDAL ACT.
The authorities have to think a HUNDRED OR THOUSAND TIMES before they jump to impliment such a suggestion. It will be like "BURNING THE PALACE TO KILL A RAT"
The evidence and opinions given by forensic people have been crucial in many uproarous murder cases and other criminal cases involving the human body in india.
There is no substitute for a forensic pathologist.Volumes speak for this, in the annals of judiciary.
So let them pleace be aware of all these.
