i strongly oppose the proposal for shortening the MBBS  course to 4 yrs instead of 4,1/2yrs because this is a time tested duration, the basic knowledge of  diseases and medicolegal aspects should not be cut shortened as this will hamper the services at the peripheral level as sometimes a hospital is managed single handedly and always a specialist or medicolegal expert is not available at his rescue.rather the forensic medicine classes should be more emphasised and there hour of teaching should be increased, post mortem should be taught vividly so that the doctor may feel confident to carry out justice to the deceased one both at peripheral areas as well as in the court of law. feeling the importance of these subjects they should be positive attitude for detailed teaching rather than underestimating and deleting these subjects.
